People's Climate March

On April 29, 2017, tens of thousands of people marched through Washington D.C. to demand climate action and environmental justice. Dr. Clark was among them — because the communities most harmed by environmental neglect are the same communities most often excluded from the decisions that shape their futures. Organizing sometimes means adding your body to the count.

The march drew participants from every corner of the country, united by the understanding that climate justice and racial equity cannot be separated. These photos and press coverage document what it looked like to show up.

Why it matters

The People's Climate March was not just a protest — it was a declaration that the communities bearing the greatest burden of environmental destruction would not be silent. Climate justice is racial justice. Environmental equity is civic equity. Showing up on that day was an extension of the same work that has defined Dr. Clark's career: insisting that the people most affected by powerful decisions have a place in shaping them.
